Excerpt:   A private donation is funding the Fond du Lac Public Library's new branch location at the Johnson Crossing shopping center on East Johnson Street near the Highway 151 Bypass.

The 1,600-square-foot Express branch, set to open in the fall, will replace and expand on services currently available at the Bookmobile parked in front of Festival Foods.

Local businesswoman Judith Berger donated $20,000 to fund the project, stating, "Everyone profits when you give back to the community."

Library Director Ken Hall said he is reaching out to other organizations and individuals in the community to raise the remaining $40,000 needed.

This will be the first standalone branch location in the library's 107-year history. A grand opening celebration is planned for Saturday, Oct. 22
