Republican Bob Donovan (R-Greenfield) currently represents the 84th Assembly District, to which he was elected in November 2022 after serving 20 years on the Milwaukee City Council. As a result of redistricting, he found himself in an overwhelmingly Democratic district.
Looney Tunes Mom for Liberty Amanda Nedweski currently represents the 61st District. She is running for re-election in the 32nd District.
According to WisPolitics, the district is 50.8% Republican. It's a toss-up. Donovan's challenger is Democrat LuAnn Bird.
In typical GOP fashion, Donovan is running as a carpetbagger.
Donovan said his new district includes about 78% of his current district and is heavily Democratic.
And if he wins, he'd have to move.
"I am willing to do that because I want to continue representing the same people who chose me to be their representative," Donovan said. "Anybody who has an apartment for rent, let me know. If I win, I will move."
The State Supreme Court ruled Wisconsin's former maps unconstitutional, unfairly favoring Republicans. The new maps, backed by state Republicans, give Democrats a more competitive advantage.
