Appleton Post-Crescent Editorial: Makes No Sense to Undermine WiscNet

Editorial: Wisconsin Legislature shouldn't undermine low-cost Internet network. (Appleton Post-Crescent, 6/13/2011)

Excerpt: Rep. Robin Vos, R-Rochester, a co-chairman of the Legislature's Joint Finance Committee, told the Wisconsin State Journal that he was concerned about WiscNet providing unfair competition for BadgerNet, a network that uses AT&T as its primary vendor.

It's a fair concern, but WiscNet has the advantage of a history of providing Internet access and networking. We want our schools and governments to spend tax dollars wisely, right? So why would we want them to have to spend more money when it's not necessary?

WiscNet is a good deal for those who use it, and a good deal for those who pay for it. It makes no fiscal sense for the Legislature to undermine it
