January is already Madison’s driest month, averaging about 1.5 inches of precipitation between 1991 and 2020, according to the Wisconsin State Climatology Office. This year, Madison received just one-tenth of an inch of precipitation between Jan. 1 and Jan. 31. Over half of it fell on Jan. 22. The city last recorded this little January precipitation in 1903.

They look even better in the sunlight!
