Overdue dance: Library does not want pound of flesh, just its books. (Las Cruces Sun-News, 7/8/2012)
Excerpt: There are no library policemen waiting around the corner at Branigan. Despite recent news out of Portales — where a mom spent a night in jail after a very overdue book led to an allegedly unheeded municipal court summons — the scene here in Las Cruces was all smiles when I paid my fine.
Fellow patron Felicity Russell reads an eclectic mix of choices from Agatha Christie mysteries to history books to poets. She said she usually returns her books on time, but, like most of us, has slipped.
"When I returned (the books) they were all very nice," Russell said.
