Delaware County Pennsylvania voters will definitely give Kamala Harris a boost this November

Delaware County went from a 24.3 percentage point GOP advantage in 1984 to a 26.8 percentage point Democratic advantage in 2020.  Quite the reversal.

3rd party votes:  17.4% in 1992, 11.2% in 1996, 3.8% in 2016
(Alabama segregationist George Wallace
received 9.7% of the vote in 1968)

Trump received 7,927 more votes than he did in 2016, a  7% increase.  But his share of the votes decreased nearly 1 percentage point.

Biden received 29,307 more votes than Clinton did in 2016, an increase of 17%. Biden increased Clinton's share of the vote 3.5 percentage points.

Philly's suburbs of Montgomery, Bucks and Delaware Counties, in contrast to Philly Proper, were great for former Gov. Tom Ridge, Sen. Arlen Specter and other GOP moderates during the 1990s. But they have been trending more Democratic in recent years.

And its residents, on average, have a higher level of education.  Definitely not MAGA territory.

% of population 25 and older with bachelor's degree:
  • 40.9% - Delaware County
  • 33.8% - Pennsylvania
  • 34.3% - U.S.
