In the translated clip shared on YouTube by Russian Media Monitor, Skabeyeva provided an overview of Vance's prior statements on Ukraine, saying that Vance is "known as a consistent opponent of funding the Kyiv regime" and that he has said multiple times that "Washington is too preoccupied with Ukraine."
"I don't really care what happens to Ukraine one way or the other," Vance said in a podcast interview in 2022.
In the Russian state television segment, Skabeyeva shared a CNN State of the Union clip in which Vance said: "What's in America's best interest is to accept [that] Ukraine is going to have to cede some territory to the Russians, and we need to bring this war to a close."
Skabeyeva went on to say that if Trump wins the election and returns to the White House, Vance could adopt an "even more skeptical" position on Ukraine than before, given his running mate, citing a Bloomberg report.
