U.S. Census Bureau's 2022 population estimates: Iowa's 36th smallest county (Lyon) has fewer residents than it did in 1900

Iowa has 99 counties.

94.5% Trumpy white (83.3% of the vote in 2020) Lyon County's population has decreased 21% since its 17,932 peak of 1920.

Lyon County shares a border with Minnehaha County, South Dakota, to the northwest.   Minnehaha's county seat is Sioux Falls, state's most largest city, which experienced a 25% increase in population from 2010 to 2020.  Lyon County's proximity to Sioux Falls is most likely the reason that it has gained population in the two most recent decennial census counts.
