U.S. Census Bureau's 2022 population projections: Iowa's 24th smallest county (Sac) has fewer residents than it did in 1890

 
Iowa has 99 counties.

93.4% Trumpy white Sac County's population has decreased 45%
since its 17,641 peak of 1930.

Historically, northwest Iowa has traditionally voted Republicans in presidential election.  Sac County, for example, has voted Democratic just 5 times:  1932 and 1936 (FDR), 1948 (Truman), 1964 (LBJ), and 1988 (Bill Clinton).  Like every other rural Iowa County, voters were taken in by Trump's MAGA message.
