Urmanski's lawyers are fluent in gobbledygook
Sheboygan County District Attorney Joel Urmanski's petition to the high court comes several months after a Dane County court ruled the law applied to feticide, not abortions. That ruling led abortion services to reopen last September after they had been shuttered for over a year.
Urmanski's lawyers said he thinks the 1849 law applies to abortion but wanted the liberal-controlled court to issue a final judgment.
"This is a question of significant public importance requiring prompt resolution by this Court," his lawyers said. "This Court’s resolution of this issue now, rather than later, will provide needed clarity to policymakers as to the current state of the law."
