From the 10/9/2020 Green Bay Press Gazette article:
Konitzer has attributed that to gatherings — both large and small — where people don’t wear masks or maintain social distance. “
[snip]
The culture of the county contributes to people not taking those steps, Konitzer said, adding that residents can no longer be divided when it comes to this illness, and called upon everyone to work together as a community and protect each other.
Oconto County now ranks 3rd out of Wisconsin's 72 counties in highest COVID -19positive test rate per 100,000.
Green Bay Press Gazette, 8/13/2020)
Two counties in northeastern Wisconsin have become hot spots for COVID-19 in the state, and local observers say there's one big reason: People have gone back to partying like it's 2019.
Through Tuesday, Marinette County had by far the highest rate statewide of new cases per 100,000 residents over the past seven days and over the past 14 days.
During the past week, Oconto County has been duking it out with Calumet and Sheboygan counties for one of the two bottom positions on this bar graph. Yesterday it was the top 'bubbling under' contender.
Considering how Oconto County has voted since 2008, Retiring Guy finds this outcome to be no surprise. Like its neighbor to the northeast, the county demonstrates the danger of listening to a rich, privileged, narcissistic blunderer masquerading as President of the United States.
