Trump and his party have raised money and fired up voters by exploiting resentment toward players, most of them black, who kneel during the national anthem before games to protest racial injustice.
Team owners have given nearly $15.4 million to Republicans in federal races since 2007, including $1 million to Trump campaign committees. They gave about $1.4 million to Democrats. The Post’s examination included only controlling team owners, not family members or team executives.
