Over a two-day period, the presence of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) was confirmed in 10 commercial duck flocks in Indiana.
Of those 10 flocks, all but one was in LaGrange County, with the other being in neighboring Elkhart County. Affected were six meat duck flocks and four duck breeder flocks, according to information from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS).
Eight of the flock infections were confirmed on November 12, while the others were confirmed on the following day.
The 10 cases, as reported by APHIS, are:
7,100 meat ducks in Elkhart County
6,900 meat ducks in LaGrange County
5,300 meat ducks in LaGrange County
Another flock of 5,300 meat ducks in LaGrange County
3,700 breeder ducks in LaGrange County
2,900 breeder ducks in LaGrange County
2,900 breeder ducks in LaGrange County
1,400 breeder ducks in LaGrange County
7,400 meat ducks in LaGrange County
13,200 meat ducks in LaGrange County
