Yes, folks, we're the proud home of the greatest drinking culture

Let the countdown begin....

And on and on and on......

Drunk driving in Wisconsin is.....

That was then. This is now. The free market/small government Robin Vos.

That was then.  December 1, 2014

This is now.  ($3 billion in incentives to Foxconn has nothing to do with 'smaller government, free market ideas'.

(emphasis added)

As Eric Bott, director of the Koch Brothers-fueled Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin, pointed out at yesterday public hearing.

Bott says the group is a free market advocate and as such "staunchly" opposes government tax incentives.

And what type of jobs, exactly? Mainly, the new plant will churn out LCD flat-panel screens -- a business beset by sluggish demand, rising competition and changing consumer tastes. Worse, such jobs are highly likely to be automated.

Note the 2nd checked item:  $53,875 predicted base salary.

Sean, 'base' means 'minimum'.   Hasn't your staff read you the news yet?

...the investment would create 13,000 jobs, with an average pay of $53,000 plus benefits.

If one person earns an annual salary of $80,812, a second earn $53,875, and a $26,938, their average salary is $53,875.

Scott Walker and Paul Ryan collude on campaign digital ads for Foxconn

The campaigns of Gov. Scott Walker and House Speaker Paul Ryan will launch digital ads Tuesday touting the decision by Foxconn Technology Group to build a plant in Wisconsin.
The two Republicans are gearing up for the 2018 election, although Walker has yet to formally announce that he's running for a third term.

"They", of course, are Scott Walker and Paul Ryan.

"Ongoing excitement statewide"?  Sounds more like a 2-man circle jerk to me.

The job hunt: This is the level to which most American workers have been reduced

Amazon’s Jobs Fair Sends Clear Message: Now Hiring Thousands.  (The New York Times, 8/2/2017)

Wherein we learn....

But wait!  There's more!
But there are questions about how long Amazon’s fulfillment jobs will exist, as robots and other forms of automation become more capable at doing the jobs that now require humans.
Amazon is more aggressively using robots to help make the operations inside its warehouses more efficient. For now, the company said machines are not replacing people. Instead, they mostly move large shelves of merchandise to stations where orders are manually picked.
Many academic researchers and start-ups are working on robots that have the dexterity to pick orders automatically. Amazon sponsors a competition to encourage engineers to build more advanced warehouse robots.

Married?  Have a couple of kids?  Better hope that both you and your spouse/partner get one of those Amazon jobs.  Fulltime employment at $12 per hour will put you just $360 above the federal poverty level for a 4-person household.

So what's with all this celebratory media coverage about the Amazon Job Fair?  It just shines a light on the very sad state of labor in the U.S.

And the leaks just keep on coming

This gushing sentiment concludes his 7/31/2017 letter to the editor, in which he also lays out this reasoning:

1.)  If we do nothing, we get nothing.  (True, but it'll prevent an annual heist of $200,000,000 from the state budget.)

2.)  Something that isn't yours doesn't cost you anything when you allow the owner to keep it. (I think we'd all be better off keeping our senses about this dubious deal.  And raise your hand if you want to live near this plant.)

3.) Completely unique industries that are thriving, profitable, and in high demand are the kind we want in the State.   (First of all, 'unique' is defined as being the only one:  SOLE. The use of 'completely' is superfluous.  And how is an assembly plant for electronics 'completely unique'?)
