Covidiot Chronicle: Utah County, home to Brigham Young University, is a coronavirus hot spot

Spike in COVID-19 diagnoses continues, with 572 new Utah cases reported. (Salt Lake Tribune, 9/12/2020)
Utah County is currently experiencing the highest COVID-19 infection rates in the state, apparently driven by Brigham Young University in Provo, where scores of new cases have been reported in recent days.

Bending over backwards to make it look like it's not a big deal.

Members of the BYU community came out on social media to voice their displeasure following BYU’s decision to move from daily to once-a-week reporting of COVID cases.
The change comes at a time when both Utah County and BYU cases are skyrocketing and the county’s infection rate is the highest in the state.
BYU reported 218 active cases and 258 total cases on Friday, Sept. 11. Following BYU’s decision to move to weekly reports, the university also announced it was rolling out a new COVID dashboard that shows the total number of cases as well as how many are active and how many are no longer in isolation. The dashboard also has weekly totals and daily averages for each week.

So far, 820 members of UW fraternities and sororities have received quarantine orders.  Perhaps they believe this latest nonsense about rounding the final turn on Covid.

Covidiot Chronicle: La Crosse County, home to a University of Wisconsin System campus and Viterbo University, is a coronavirus hot spot

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse reported 105 new positive cases Friday out of 279 tests administered -- a rate of 37.63 percent positive. UW-L has reported a total of 202 cases this week beginning Tuesday. A total of 370 students are being quarantined at Coate Hall on campus through Sept. 24. The Viterbo University COVID-19 dashboard listed 50 active student cases of COVID-19 as of Friday.

Viterbo University announces plans for fall classes.  (Viterbo University, 6/25/2020)
Viterbo University plans a return to campus in the fall and will implement key safety measures to keep the students and employees safe. Earlier this month Viterbo, along with UW-La Crosse and Western Technical College, released a joint announcement stating each institution was planning to offer on campus classes, with each working on more detailed plans specific to their campus. The Viterbo plan, “Moving Forward @ Viterbo,” will continue to be refined and will be reviewed by health officials.
“The plan will be responsive to the situation and will continue to integrate new information and recommendations from health officials throughout the summer,” said Glena Temple, Viterbo University President.

The university also is shutting down academic buildings, the student union and in-person study spaces, including at Murphy Library, for at least two weeks. UW-L reported 105 new cases Friday and a total of more than 200 last week, forcing the quarantining of Coate Hall last week.

Keeping tabs on authors in LINKcat: Shere Hite (1942-2020)

Not much of a long-term shelf life in the South Central Library System.

Source:  LINKcat

Her most famous work, “The Hite Report: A Nationwide Study of Female Sexuality” (1976), challenged societal and Freudian assumptions about how women achieved orgasm: It was not necessarily through intercourse, Ms. Hite wrote; women, she found, were quite capable of finding sexual pleasure on their own.

However obvious her conclusions might seem today, they were seismic at the time and “sparked a revolution in the bedroom,” as Ms. magazine reported. For all the women who had faked orgasm during intercourse, the Hite Report helped awaken their sexual power and was seen as advancing the liberation of women that was rapidly underway.
