GET ME REWRITE: After twiddling their thumbs for 7 months, Winnebago County supervisors realize they have a crisis on their hands

From March 14 until August 31, Winnebago County reported a total of 1,528 coronavirus cases, an average of 9 new cases per day.

Since September 1, the county has reported an additional 5,486 cases, an increase of 260%. Daily average during this period is 119 new cases per day.

From March 20 until August 31, Marathon County reported a total of 778 coronavirus cases, an average of 4.7 new cases per day.

Since September 1, the county has reported an additional 2,387 cases, an increase of 350%. Daily average during this period is 52 new cases per day.

During the past 2 weeks, the daily average of new cases per day is 135.

"It's hilarious," said Kari Walker, whose city and county (Sauk) typify the swingiest tendencies of this battleground state at the forefront of the 2020 election.

"I think all the journalists are hoping that somebody in an interview is going to help them break the code, crack the puzzle, and they're going to figure out why Sauk County has picked the winner (so often), and 'Who is Sauk County going to pick this time?'" said Walker, co-owner of Beastro & Barley, a downtown tavern and restaurant.

Wisconsin 2020 elections: Who's running in the 83rd State Assembly district?

2018, Chuck Wichgers (R-Muskego) easily won a 2nd term in the Assembly. He represents a deep red district.

Alan DeYoung describes himself as 'moderate, pro-business Democrat, fiscally conservative'. The district includes a chunk of Waukesha County. This is Alan's first run for elected office.
