Arizona Senate GOP Majority Leader presents an alternative to the state's Right to Contraception Act

 The age of the Bayer ad reflects Sonny's worldview.

One Republican’s response to questions Thursday about contraceptives highlights the challenges Hobbs and legislative Democrats face in guaranteeing the right to contraceptive access in Arizona while the GOP controls the legislative agenda. 
Sen. Sonny Borrelli, the No. 2 Republican in the state Senate, responded to a question about whether he would oppose future efforts to restrict access to emergency contraceptives by saying that women wouldn’t need contraceptives if they weren’t so promiscuous. 
“Like I said, Bayer Company invented aspirin. Put it between your knees,” he said, implying that, if women hold aspirin between their legs, they won’t be able to have sex and risk pregnancy. 
Borrelli, a Republican from Lake Havasu City, said the idea that contraceptive access is under attack is fabricated.

Love it or hate it, Ottawa Impact is shaping up to be the focal point for elections this year in Republican-dominated Ottawa County.
Several controversial decisions by commissioners in the last 14 months brought high publicity, high criticism and even court drama -- all in a county typically known more for its beautiful Lake Michigan beaches, a bountiful blueberry crop, farmland and generally good schools. 
At many times, spectators packed into the county board room. Sometimes, meetings stretched on for hours as dozens took the opportunity to speak for up to three minutes during public comment. 
Northrup wants to see less controversy. 
He is among 10 people not currently serving on the board who have filed, so far, to run in what is expected to be a hotly contested election for county board seats.

"There's Gonna Be a Showdown" by Archie Bell & the Drells" debuted at #87 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week ending 12/18/1968.  It spent 11 weeks on the chart, peaking at #21 for 2 weeks.

The report also took notice of state Rep. Matt Maddock (R-Milford), pointing out that he traveled to Washington, D.C.,and attended a Stop the Steal rally on Jan. 5, 2021. Maddock and his wife, former Michigan Republican Party co-Chair Meshawn Maddock, organized buses for people from Michigan to attend the Jan. 6 protests in Washington, D.C. that resulted in the storming of the U.S. Capitol later that day. 
The couple also attempted to deliver fake elector ballots to the Michigan Capitol building on Dec. 14, 2020, while the state’s legal electors for President Joe Biden met to cast their legitimate ballots. It was part of an alleged scheme for which Meshawn Maddock and 14 others were charged and are awaiting trial.

Bruce Campbell, chairman of the Gillespie County Republican Party, predicted that results from the 13 GOP precincts would start trickling into the county elections office by 8:30 p.m. 
By 9:30 p.m., he expressed surprise that none had returned. 
Shortly after, he informed county Elections Director Jim Riley it might be hours before workers finished hand counting the thousands of early and mailed ballots — a task they’d begun at 7:30 that morning in a glass-walled tasting room at a winery called The Resort at Fredericksburg. 
“Are you kidding me?” Riley said. 
Campbell wasn’t kidding, or even hedging. In the end, the counting took all night long. 
At 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, Gillespie County Republicans completed hand counting more than 8,000 ballots, following through on a decision the county party made months ago amid a statewide push led by individuals who have promoted some of the wildest election conspiracy theories since the 2020 election. 
Gillespie County Republicans decided to hand-count primary ballots even though experts agree, and studies show the method is time-consuming, costly, less accurate, and less secure than using machines.
