Pretzel logic of Wisconsin embarrassment Glenn Grothman is OK with Elon Musk's outside influence

Headline:  Seehafer News, 4/1/2025

Ryan Brahm reports on the full-bore, goofball crazy that is Glenn Grothman:
“We have the governor of Illinois, who’s wildly wealthy, hundreds of millions of dollars weighing in on this race,” he told SeehaferNews.com.
“I don’t think we have to let the governor of Illinois, Mr. Pritzker, determine who our Supreme Court justice is.”
When questioned about the Elon Musk rally in Green Bay on Sunday, the Glenbeulah native admitted there is a lot of money coming from both sides, but said, “I’m more concerned about the governor of Illinois weighing in than Elon Musk and more worried about George Soros weighing in because I think they are either bad people or represent hard left wing ideologies.”
As for Musk, Grothman said, “I think he wants a strong America and to get back to traditional America’s roots.”

Trump is barreling down the road to authoritarianism yet the media promotes Hooters bankruptcy as a top story

HeadlineOrlando Sentinel, 4/1/2025

But apparently it's not the end of the franchise.
The company ran into financial woes as its debts mounted, but it say it intends to stay open and resolve its troubles within months.  A group of the company's original founders that own almost a third of Hooters' U.S. locations, including about half of its biggest volume restaurants, plans to buy and operate more of the outlets, Hooters said in a news release.

Far-right Ottawa Impact co-found Joe Moss is in the news again. And it's another clown show.

John Tunison writes:
An Ottawa County leader is taking criticism over reports he carried a concealed gun on the Grand Valley State University campus, against the school’s policy.
But the fallout continued after the county commissioner, Joe Moss, wrote a letter to the university president that sought changes in the policy. A digital copy of the letter shows it was written using county letterhead and the county logo, a detail that county Board Vice Chair Josh Brugger found troublesome.
[snip]
Moss, co-founder of the ultra-conservative political faction Ottawa Impact, came under scrutiny recently after photos surfaced showing him at a March 13 event for an anti-trans activist speaker.

Trump's march to authoritarianism turns USA into a hostile state

HeadlineBBC, 3/31/2025

Lindsey Galloway reports:
As President Donald Trump implements sweeping new policies, issues tariffs on longtime allies and leads an immigration crackdown, some international travellers are rethinking their travel plans to the US.
The nation's stricter border enforcement has recently led to the detention of Canadian and European tourists, prompting Germany, the UK, Denmark, Finland and Portugal to issue travel warnings and advisories for the country. Now, it appears that a growing number of voices are advocating for an all-out boycott of travel to the US.  [emphasis added]

Louisiana Sen. Dr. Bill Cassidy abandons guiding medical principle: First, do no harm (chapter 22)

Dr. Bill is chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP).  He voted to confirm RFKjr as secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.  He should have known better but couldn't find his spine.

Headline: New York Times, 4/1/2025
Hundreds of federal health workers, including doctors in senior leadership positions, began hearing early Tuesday morning that they are losing their jobs, part of a vast restructuring that will winnow down the agencies charged with regulating food and drugs, protecting Americans from disease and researching new treatments and cures.
Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced last week that he is shrinking his department by 10,000 employees. Some senior leaders based in the Washington, D.C., area received notices that they were being reassigned to Indian Health Service territories, a tactic to force people out, employees said, because it would entail moving to other parts of the country.   [emphasis added]

Dr. Bill chose to preserve his political future over saving lives.  Unconscionable!  America deserve an explanation and an apology!

Something you already know: Household wealth in the United States is concentrated at the top

Headline:  New York Times, 3/31/2025

Talmon Joseph Smith reports:
The U.S. economy remains deeply unequal, with vast gaps in wealth and financial security persisting even as inflation has ebbed and incomes have risen. And data designed to capture the overall population may be obscuring challenges experienced by a broad range of Americans, especially those in the bottom half of the wealth or income spectrum. [emphasis added]
The share of wealth held by families in the top 10 percent has reached 69 percent, while the share held by families in the bottom 50 percent is only 3 percent, according to the latest reading from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.

Ellen Barry reports about the latest outbreak of professional cowardice:
The American Psychological Association, which sets standards for professional training in mental health, has voted to suspend its requirement that postgraduate programs show a commitment to diversity in recruitment and hiring.
The decision, by the organization’s commission on accreditation, comes as accrediting bodies throughout higher education scramble to respond to the executive order signed by President Trump attacking diversity, equity and inclusion policies. It pauses a drive to broaden the profession of psychology, which is disproportionately white and female, at a time of rising distress among young Americans.

Richard Fausset reports:
Ivermectin, a drug proven to treat certain parasitic diseases, exploded in popularity during the pandemic amid false claims that it could treat or prevent Covid-19. Now — despite a persistent message from federal health officials that its medical benefits are limited — interest in ivermectin is rising again, particularly among American conservatives who are seeing it promoted by right-wing influencers.
Mr. Grinsteiner, 54, is a Trump supporter and country music performer who lives in rural Michigan. He has claimed in his videos that ivermectin cured his skin cancer, as well as his wife’s cervical cancer. In a video last month, he said a woman told him her nonverbal autistic child had become verbal after using ivermectin. In a recent phone interview, Mr. Grinsteiner said that he takes a daily dose of ivermectin to maintain his general well-being.

A federal antisemitism task force will review more than $255 million in contracts between Harvard and the federal government to make sure the school is following civil rights laws, the administration announced Monday.
The government also will examine $8.7 billion in grant commitments to Harvard and its affiliates. The same task force cut $400 million from Columbia University and threatened to slash billions more if it refused a list of demands from President Donald Trump's administration.
Columbia agreed to many of the changes this month, drawing praise from some Jewish groups and condemnation from free speech groups, who see it as a stunning intrusion by the federal government.  [emphasis added]

Hire a clown expect a circus: White House spokesliar Karoline Leavitt doesn't seem to realize she's now a member of the DC elite

“We’ve made a lot of changes across the board that have benefited the American public to how this White House is covered,” Leavitt said Monday afternoon during an appearance on Fox News. “We believe that it’s fundamentally unfair that a group of D.C.-based elitists get to choose who gets to cover the president of the United States.”
Which is exactly what the current toxic crop of D.C. elitists in the White House are doing now!
