Kansas’ wide miss was probably a result of wading into uncharted territory with its tax reforms. In addition to cutting income tax rates, Kansas made itself the only state with a general personal-income tax that exempts “pass-through income” from tax.
Business entities like S-corporations and limited liability companies are not taxed at the corporate level; instead, their income is passed through to their owners, who then pay personal income tax on the profits in most states — but not Kansas.

Academic counselor for the women’s basketball team Jan Boxill sends department administrator Deborah Crowder a paper to be graded.Ms. Crowder responds via email: “Did you say a D will do? I’m only asking because 1, no sources, 2, it has absolutely nothing to do with the assignments for that class and 3. it seems to me to be a recycled paper.”Ms. Boxill replies: “Yes, a D will be fine; that’s all she needs."
Irony of ironies.
The Times article notes that Jan Boxill is currently the director of the university's Parr Center for Ethics. She is not, however, currently listed on the staff webpage.
Meet Interim Director Geoffrey Sayre-McCord, who, if the Parr Center's mission statement is any indication, will be a busy man for awhile.
Last month Boxill was named the 2015 Warren Fraleigh distinguished scholar by the International Association for the Philosophy of Sport. As far as I can tell, there's been no official word yet on whether this honor has been rescinded, but if you find Jan Boxill's name anywhere on the IAPS website, please let me know.

Most of the books damaged were in the American History section and consisted of biographies of George Bush, Ronald Reagan, and Richard Nixon.

Unlike its supercenters, Walmart's smaller stores have contributed significantly to the company's bottom line.

In his response Wery agreed to check into the bus service question, but asked Mohammad about her involvement in starting a Muslim Student Association group at UW-Green Bay, according to the newspaper.
"I just want to be assured that your group in no way promotes or defends militant Islamic ideology," Wery wrote, asking if Mohammad and the association condemn "terrorist groups such as Hamas," the Press Gazette reported.
