Kellogg's Pop-Tarts, "a wonderful breakfast treat", were introduced 60 years ago

Retiring Guy was never a fan of this bland creation..

New York Times, 2/14/2024
Mr. Post led the bakery plant that developed the first Pop-Tarts for Kellogg’s in 1964, his son said. The snack quickly became a popular treat for many people in the United States, including Mr. Post’s children, who were among the first taste testers.
Today, according to Kellogg’s, billions of Pop-Tarts are sold each year. They have also been depicted on murals, showcased in museums and parodied by “Saturday Night Live.” Later this year, they will star in “Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story,” a farcical chronicle of the race in the 1960s to win the breakfast-pastry wars, directed by and starring the comedian (and Pop-Tarts enthusiast) Jerry Seinfeld.

GET ME REWRITE: Co-author of "The Art of the Deal" reveals what everyone should have known about Donald Trump all along

Headline:  AlterNet, 2/17/2024
"Nothing is more important to Donald Trump than money. That is his number one. More important than power, more important than dominance... And his core belief is, 'I'm nothing. I'm worth nothing,'" Schwartz said. "Right now he's being asked to pay an amount of money he does not have."
"And so, if you're empty inside and you're looking outside, and money is your measure... his feeling has gotta be first and foremost today, humiliation, stupefication — because I think he could not have believed that the judgment was gonna be this big against him — and rage, because rage is his primary emotion," he continued. "That's his playbook forever. He's been telling lies all his life. He's been a fraud all his life. It just became absolutely official today that he's a fraud."

GET ME REWRITE: Prayer by Episcopal minister reveals homophobic makeup of Michigan's Ottawa County Board

During Cramer’s prayer, he touched on a number of topics, including mental health and the LGBTQ+ community.
"I pray for those who have been [and] continue to be impacted by decisions of this board. I pray for families and households that are struggling because of reduced resources from the health department, especially those who will be more food insecure. Those who will struggle to get the mental health support they need,” he said.
Cramer filed a religious discrimination lawsuit back in October. He claims the board limited who could give the invocation. His lawsuit went on to say the only ones who have delivered it have the same or similar religious views as the Ottawa County Chairperson Joe Moss.  [emphasis added]
The St. John Episcopal Church Grand Haven reverend openly supports the LGBTQ+ community. He was one of the many people involved in starting the first-ever Grand Haven Pride Festival.

Day 1206 of GOP election denier hysteria (Trump Big Lie Clown Show Circus, MAGA Wyoming edition)

ATTACK Of the Clown Show zombies
Starring Wyoming Attorney General
Chuck Gray
Wyoming’s top election official, Secretary of State Chuck Gray, was one of only five non-incumbent Election Deniers in 2022 who captured a statewide office that oversees elections.
His qualifications as an Election Denier are thorough. He has hosted screenings of “2000 Mules,” a thoroughly discredited movie that pushes a conspiracy theory about ballot drop boxes. And he has called the House January 6 Select Committee “a simple attempt to scare anyone out of questioning the results of the fraudulent election.” Under Gray’s tenure, information about the security and accuracy of Wyoming elections vanished from a state website. Gray is so extreme that, for a time, some fellow Republicans considered moving election powers out of the Secretary of State’s office.

CES 2024: Unitree H1 humanoid robot

Screenshot from video below

The Robot Report, 1/13/2024
The internet influencer darling of CES has to be the Unitree H1 humanoid, and the company was giving nearly continuous live demos of the H1 at its booth.
Kudos to the Unitree marketing team for its now-infamous “kick the robot” videos that have been shared on social media over the past six months. In the videos, H1 appears to be a solid humanoid platform with respectable balance and agility.
However, as a longtime robotics industry insider and experienced robotics applications engineer, I thought the Unitree H1 product demos at CES 2024 were cringe-worthy, as the Unitree demo team walked the H1 robot into crowds of “internet tech influencers” with their cameras ablaze..

CES 2024: RoboBusiness robotic Glide guide

Glidance, Inc. via The Robot Report

The Robot Report, 1/13/2024
RoboBusiness PitchFire 2023 winner Glidance also won a CES 2024 Innovation Award and showed the latest functional prototype of its Glide device in its booth. The robotic Glide guides sight-impaired individuals similar to a guide dog.
The startup is designing Glide to be affordable and easy to learn how to use when it starts shipping later this year. I tried Glide firsthand (while closing my eyes). The experience was incredible, and I can only imagine how promising this technology would be for an individual with sight loss.
