More fake news from Breitbart: No, Oliver, the BBC did not make the call

Specifically, what we have here is a purposefully misleading headline.

The source of this opinion is clearly identified in the headline.

More tender sensibilities, bruised.

Memo to Breitbart:  Folks get to express their opinions when interviewed.   They are not required to echo, exclusively, your 'Make American Great Again' company line.

We made a tool that slips a bit more context into Trump's tweets. It's still in the early stages, but our goal is to provide additional context where needed for Trump's tweets moving forward (and a few golden oldies).

Cue the 'Dragnet' theme song: Scott Walker ain't done with us yet, folks

Quoted in Scott Walker says he won't announce 2018 decision until after budget,  (Madison.com, 12/16/2016)

In an appropriating mood, the GOP is whistling a different tune.

Disco one-hit wonders McFadden and Whitehead made their only appearance on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Ain't No Stopping Us Now", which debuted at on the Billboard Hot 100 for the week ending April 28, 1979.  Although the song spent 18 weeks on the chart, it never reached the top 10, peaking at #13.

UPDATE. In so many words, Cathy Stepp sez these boots are made for walkin' all over you, Kewaunee County

Quoted in DNR to alter handling of pollution, science, enforcement.  (Wisconsin State Journal, 11/30/2016)

Based on this list from the above article, I imagine Gaylord Nelson is spinning in his grave.
  • Placing greater reliance on private contractors to write environmental permits including those governing water pollution discharges from animal feedlots.
  • Exerting closer control over agency research.
  • Reducing the number of armed rangers with arrest powers in state parks.
  • Reevaluating state wildlife habitat and the effort that goes into management, selling off aging heavy equipment, and allowing more front-line personnel to specialize in their areas of expertise.

But wait; there's more!

Hmm, I wonder how many environmental groups got a sneak preview.

UPDATE. New Year's resolution: Kewaunee County voters just don't get it

Kewaunee County's Request For The New Year: Cleaner Water.  (Wisconsin Public Radio, 12/15/216)
Kewaunee County Supervisor Lee Luft delivered an emphatic message Wednesday to the Natural Resources Board about the water pollution many residents say is connected to animal waste from large farms. "There's very, very little monitoring, and very, very little enforcement," Luft said.

From the top.  The environmental message is clear from the presidential candidate who received 62% of the vote in Kewaunee County.

In choosing Pruitt to head the EPA, Trump has sent a clear message that he intends to follow through on his campaign promise to cut back on environmental regulations that he and many Republicans have long argued harm businesses.

Such as Augustian Farms LLC, one of 16 CAFOs (concentrated animal feeding operations) in Kewaunee County.

The 2008 results are an anomaly.  Bush-Cheney beat Gore-Lieberman 4883-4670 in 2000 and Kerry-Edward 5970-5175 in 2004.

2008-2010 drop in Democratic voter participation:  43% vs. 2.8% for Republicans.
2012-2014 drop in Democratic voter participation:  35% vs. 1.3% for Republicans.

Walker's vote total increased by 24% in 2014 compared to 2010.  Mary Burke increased Tom Barrett's total by 0.3%.

2008, 2010, and 2012 election figures from the (soon-to-be-snuffed?) Government Accountability Board.  The 2014 figures are preliminary.
