Roy Graber reports:
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) confirmed the presence of HPAI in two commercial turkey breeder hen flocks in Wayne County, North Carolina, on November 26. The larger of the two flocks had 9,200 turkeys, while the smaller had 8,600.
Including those two flocks, four turkey breeder hen flocks in Wayne County were struck by HPAI in November. The other two instances were confirmed on November 18 and November 21.
So far in 2025, HPAI has appeared in seven commercial poultry flocks in North Carolina. The other three cases were confirmed in January.
Also in the United States, HPAI was confirmed in a commercial meat duck flock in LaGrange County, Indiana, on November 28. This flock included 7,600 ducks.
This marks the 53rd commercial poultry flock in Indiana to be hit by HPAI in 2025 and the 27th in LaGrange County, according to APHIS data. [emphasis added]
