USA box office for the 29th weekend 2017-2025

USA box office on the 29th weekend of 2025 is down 12% compared to last year when "Twisters" was the top-grossing movie.  This year "Superman" is the #1 movie for the 2nd weekend in a row.

And it's down 58% compared to the peak year of 2023, when "Barbie" ruled the box office.

Rebecca Rubin reports that more Hollywood retreads are on the way:
Overall box office returns are currently 15% ahead of the same point in 2024 though about 24% behind 2019, the last pre-pandemic year, according to Comscore. After “Fantastic Four” closes out the month of July, the summer season will continue with August releases like “The Naked Gun,” “Freakier Friday” and Zach Cregger’s thriller “Weapons.”
