MISCREANT PREACHERS: Child sex crimes in the Name of the Lord (#139 in a series)

According to the Virginia Judiciary, Albert Benjamin Wharton is taking a plea on seven of 30 felony charges: three counts of aggravated sexual battery with a victim under 13 and four counts of incident acts with a child under 13 while in a custodial position. 

An Alford plea is when someone acknowledges the state has enough evidence to convict them of the crime but they do not admit to doing it. 

Back in December of 2023, Wharton was arrested at his Pickens County home by Virginia’s Richmond County Sheriff’s Office. His charged included 22 felony county of indecent liberties with a child under the age of 13 while in a custodial position and eight felony counts of aggravated sexual assault.
