USA box office for the 9th weekend 2017-2026

USA box office on the 9th weekend of 2026 is up 104% compared to last year when Captain America: Brave New World was the top-grossing movie.  This year Scream 7 this weekend.

But it's down 42% from a 2017 peak when Logan ruled the box office.

Rebecca Rubin reports on yet another retread topping the box office:
“Scream 7” marks Paramount’s first No. 1 release in 12 months, since last March’s action comedy “Novocaine.” The box office win, after a long drought for the studio, comes days after Paramount shocked Hollywood by outbidding Netflix for control of Warner Bros. Discovery. Paramount’s CEO David Ellison has promised the joint media behemoth would release more than 30 films a year — which would be the largest output of any studio by a wide margin. However, industry executives and theater owners are skeptical that Paramount will make good on its promise.
