So who is Joe Moss?
To answer that question, MLive secured and sorted through dozens of public records, business filings, and press reports. We also interviewed a handful of people who know Moss, though we had hoped to interview more. Dozens of interview requests for this story were rebuffed, including by Moss, his parents and others in his inner circle.
Still, through our reporting, a portrait emerged of a husband and young father of two children; an uncompromising conservative and gun owner, known to open carry; and a media-savvy entrepreneur using new technologies to promote his beliefs about parental and religious rights.
He is both a hero and a villain, depending on who you ask. He is either [a] a man dedicated to saving his neighbors from a woke world gone too far or [b] a narrow-minded conservative determined to force his personal views on a resistant electorate.Correct answer: b.
