Main Floor of 2-Month-Old Delaware Library to Remain Closed 8 Weeks for Repairs

Link to October 23 Delaware Coast Press article, "Georgetown library's main floor closes eight weeks for repairs. Some services will continue upstairs".

Excerpt: After meeting with contractors, officials said repairs to the water-damaged Georgetown Public Library will force it to close for about eight weeks.

Less than two months after the $6.2 million building's Aug. 9 grand opening, a leaking pipe fitting damaged books, carpet, furniture, and drywall on the first floor.

Paul Enterline, president of the library's board of commissioners, said officials are still investigating whether the leak was caused by defective equipment or installation. The 29,400-square-foot building's plumbing did pass a standard inspection before the opening, he said.

"We're anticipating that this is fully covered from insurance," he said, although there is still no complete estimate on the cost of repairs
