Celia Hiorns reports:
One audience members asked a question about about how the OBBBA would benefit working-class Americans. Tiffany said energy deregulation was a factor.
The OBBBA reduces funding for corporate reporting requirements and cuts back on emissions fees. Such deregulation will help to bring down energy costs, according to Tiffany.
Wisconsin had the second highest residential electricity rates in the Midwest in June 2025, according to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Though Tiffany said Wisconsin's electricity rates were among the lowest in the region 20 years ago, EIA data from March 2005 showed Wisconsin had the highest residential electricity rates in the Midwest at that time.
"There is nothing that will bring down the cost of living quicker than making sure that we have low-cost energy because diesel fuel moves the world," Tiffany said. [emphasis added]
