Michigan is dealing with its first case of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in a commercial poultry flock since January.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) reported that the presence of HPAI was confirmed in a commercial meat turkey flock in Ottawa County on October 7. There were 30,000 turkeys in the flock.
This Michigan’s third commercial flock infection of 2025. The other two were both confirmed on January 4 and also involved Ottawa County turkeys.
