A closer look at Wisconsin's population loss: Rusk County



The population of Rusk County peaked at 17,737 in 1940.  Since 1960, the county has remained in the 14,000-16,000 range.  Its population has decreased an estimated 8% since the 2000 census.

As of July 1, 2014, 22.1% of Rusk County's population is 65 and over, compared to the state average of 15.2%.   Its 0-to-4 demographic is 5.3% vs. the state average 5.9%.
