Raquel Torres landed it on the baby names chart but Raquel Welch gave it some oomph

Raquel debuted at #910 on the baby names chart in 1927 and reached its first peak at #612 in 1931.  Raquel Torres retired from acting in 1935.

From 1960 to 1970, Raquel leaped from #726 to her all-time peak of #215, thanks to the star power and sex symbol status of Raquel Welch.  The name's popularity treaded water in the 200-300 range for nearly 3 decades before going into an increasingly steep decline in the 1990s.
