Novanta, serving Neapolitan pizza at 2903 University Ave., will have its last day on June 28, owner Nick Mattioli said. The overhead of being in a newer, high-rent building doesn't work for his business model, and income wasn't keeping up with expenses, he said.
"We've always thought about maybe doing things to evolve the brand into the space, maybe full bar," he said. "At the end of the day, you'd be changing the brand to fit the shoe kind of a thing." He said he's confident of his fast counter-service modmodel, and it works particularly well at the Old Sauk location.
