The Rebecca Kleefisch Connection

Once upon a time, a Lieutenant Governor hosted a series of tax roundtable discussions throughout her state.  The kickoff event took place behind closed doors and received less than stellar reviews

As reported by the Wisconsin State Journal on January 3, 2014,
[the] plans were immediately tangled in controversy because the gathering was private and dominated by business interests. A newspaper reporter who tried to cover the meeting was locked out until it was almost over.

At this particular gathering, the Lieutenant Governor encouraged discussion among the 30 executives, managers, accountants and others in attendance with this come-on.

And now we have this 19-page fishwrap to show for it all.

I'm sure we all shocked! shocked!

Tax force on overhauling state taxes offers no recommendations.  (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 12/9/2014)

That's Richard Chandler, Department of Revenue Secretary on the right.  He's the co-author of the report.
