"After the Hunt": Daring to be ambiguous and making a movie that few people want to see and most people don’t like when they do

"After the hunter' was given a limited-release opening -- just 6 theaters --in its first week.  In a wider release during its second week, its per-screen average tumbled from $26,466 to $1,232.

As Variety noted in its weekend box office report for October 17-19:

After one weekend in limited release, “After the Hunt” has amassed just $1.77 million, a dispiriting result for something led by major stars including Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri and Andrew Garfield.

Yup, it's not getting much love.
