Over the past several years, the school district has become ground zero in the culture war as the Republican majority implemented policies to protect parental rights, to keep politics out of the classroom, to shield students from sexually-graphic library material and to protect female athletes. [emphasis added]
The Democrats fought back accusing the board majority of banning books and Pride flags, marginalizing the district's LGBTQ+ student population and costing the district more than a million dollars defending itself against accusations by the ACLU-PA of discrimination against the district's LGBTQ+ students and their allies.
