Greensboro, N.C. rally, October 15, 2020:

The vaccine will end the pandemic. But it’s ending anyway. I mean, they go crazy when I say it. It’s going to peter out and it’s going to end. But we’re going to help the end and we’re gonna make it a lot faster with the vaccine and with the therapeutics and frankly with the cures.

Washington Post, 10/14/2020
Despite the outbreak at the White House that also infected the first lady, their son and nearly a dozen top aides, Trump and his allies continue to downplay the virus, arguing that the country is “turning the corner” and holding campaign events with thousands of supporters even as cases are increasing rapidly, especially in the Midwest. Both Eugene and Trish Scalia attended the Rose Garden event on September 26 where President Donald Trump announced Judge Amy Coney Barrett was his pick to replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court. They were seated in the second row, directly behind first lady Melania Trump and next to former White House counselor Kellyanne Conway -- both of whom would later test positive for Covid-19.

"I'm immune. So, the President is in very good shape to fight the battles," Trump said on Fox's "Sunday Morning Futures," in comments that misrepresented his own capacity to spread the virus if he is exposed to it again. A tweet along the same lines earned a warning from Twitter that the President was spreading misleading information about the virus. The President's proclamations about his own health followed another opaque memo from his physician, who cleared Trump to end isolation but who hasn't taken reporters' questions in a week.

In his approximately 18-minute speech, Trump said a COVID-19 vaccine "is coming out very very quickly" in "record time."
Trump, who was diagnosed on Oct. 1 and spent several days in the hospital, said COVID-19 will "disappear," again referring to it as the "China virus."   [emphasis added]

When asked on Fox about his most recent testing for the virus, Trump said: "I have been retested, and I haven't even found out numbers or anything yet. And I know I'm at the bottom of the scale or free."
Trump added that he would be tested again "probably tomorrow," but he did not say definitively that he had tested negative for the virus. And White House physician Sean Conley has not issued any updates on Trump's conditions since late Thursday.
The news last week that the president had contracted the coronavirus threw into chaos an already tumultuous election year.

"I think I’m better ... to a point where I’d love to do a rally tonight. I wanted to do one last night," Trump said. "I feel perfect. There’s nothing wrong."
However, for Trump to not be contagious it needs to have been at least 10 days, at a bare minimum, since his first symptoms, and he needs to be fever-free for 24 hours without taking medication that could reduce his fever. Trump should still be isolating, not campaigning, and while he may have some degree of protection, no one can say for certain whether he is immune.

New York Times, 10/7/2020
In a video that was supposed to have been released a day earlier, Mr. Trump explained that he considered getting ill with a virus that has killed more than one million people, including more than 211,000 Americans, to be such a “blessing” because he ended up taking an experimental antibody cocktail, still in clinical trials, that is produced by Regeneron.
“To me it wasn’t therapeutic — it just made me better, OK? I call that a cure,” said Mr. Trump, whose skin appeared darkened by makeup and who appeared to struggle to get air at times. He then said everyone should have access to the not-yet-approved drug for “free” and that he would make sure it was in every hospital as soon as possible. He claimed to have personally chosen the drug as part of his treatment.

As Trump convalesced out of sight in the White House, the administration defended the protections it has put in place to protect the staff working there to treat and support him. Trump again publicly played down the virus on Twitter after his return from a three-day hospitalization, though even more aides tested positive, including one of his closest advisers, Stephen Miller.

Asked how he felt on arrival at the White House, where his staff has been hit by infections and his re-election campaign dogged by the pandemic, Trump said: "Real good," according to a pool report by a journalist covering his return on behalf of other media.
Trump wore a mask as he left the helicopter that flew him back from a military hospital outside Washington and climbed the stairs of the White House South Portico, where he removed it and posed for pictures, waving, saluting and giving thumbs-up signs.
He then turned to walk into the White House, his mask still in his pocket, TV footage showed.

GET ME REWRITE:  Trump delivers campaign-style medical report from hospital targeted directly at phony Christians.

"I came here, wasn't feeling so well. I feel much better now," Trump said in the video. "I'll be back, I think I'll be back soon. And I look forward to finishing up the campaign the way it was started."
Trump credited the therapeutics he was taking for helping him feel better, calling the treatments "miracles."
"We have things happening that look like they're miracles, coming down from God," he said.

Trump walked out of the White House and gave a thumbs-up but did not speak. Members of the aircrew, Secret Service agents and White House staff wore face coverings to protect themselves from the president onboard the helicopter.
In a video taped before leaving for Walter Reed, Trump said, “I think I’m doing very well, but we’re going to make sure that things work out.”

Trump, who has spent much of the year downplaying the threat of a virus that has killed more than 205,000 Americans, said he and Mrs. Trump were quarantining. The White House physician said the president is expected to continue carrying out his duties “without disruption” while recovering.
Still, Trump’s diagnosis was sure to have a destabilizing effect in Washington, raising questions about how far the virus had spread through the highest levels of the U.S. government. Hours before Trump announced he had contracted the virus, the White House said a top aide who had traveled with him during the week had tested positive.
