But not as big as Reagan in 1984, Bush pere in 1988, Bush fils in 2000 and 2004, McCain in 2008, and Romney in 2012. While the votes were still being counted nationally Tuesday night, Republican Donald Trump handily took Cherokee County over Democrat Hillary Clinton.
After the ballots were tallied late Tuesday, Trump led the former secretary of state by a huge margin locally. In Cherokee County, Trump took 73 percent or 77,085 votes to Clinton’s 23,651 or 22 percent. (Reporting the unofficial returns, not the official results.)
