Taxpayers have spent more than $225 million on roads around Foxconn. (Racine Journal Times, 3/10/2019)
And there still is roughly $155.2 million worth of work remaining on local roads and $167.1 million worth of work remaining on Interstate 94.
While it may seem like Racine County and the roads within the Foxconn area are getting most of WisDOT’s attention, Wallace said no other department projects were negatively affected. “It didn’t delay any other work statewide,” Wallace said.
But what about the increasing backlog of roads needing repair, maintenance, and rebuilding?
From the WIDOT website. Established in 1991, the Local Roads Improvement Program (LRIP) assists local governments in improving seriously deteriorating county highways, town roads, and city and village streets. LRIP is a reimbursement program, which pays up to 50% of total eligible costs with local governments providing the balance.
