Trump wins 4th national poll in a row; Walker closes gap

The behinders in the 7/20-21 Public Policy Polling poll
  • 4% - Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina
  • 3% - Chris Christie, John Kasich (his best performance to date)
  • 1% - Rick Perry, Rick Santorum, Bobby Jindal
  • 0% - Lindsey Graham
Other stuff
  • Only 2% of respondents are 'undecided'
  • Highest unfavorables
    • 56% - Chris Christie
    • 39% - Donald Trump
    • 35% - Jeb Bush
    • 33% - Lindsey Graham
  • 22% agree with Trump's comments about John McCain (enough to maintain an insistent and vocal base, I'd say)
  • 50% of respondents identify as 'evangelical Christians'
  • *83% support requiring a criminal background check of every person who wants to buy a firearm.
  • 20% support eliminating the minimum wage vs. 52% who support an increase (3 choices offered)

Federal Law on Background Checks.  (Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence.)
*Closing the private sale loophole – The Brady Act applies only to sales by FFLs (federally licensed firearms dealers).  Accordingly, persons who purchase firearms from private sellers – estimated to be 40 percent of all gun purchasers – are not required to undergo background checks.
