Once again, the Oshkosh Northwestern editorial board -- yes, the Northwestern -- tells it like it is



Editorial: Speed, secrecy derails good government. (Oshkosh Northwestern, 7/19/2011)

Excerpt:    Republicans may view high-speed rail as a taxpayer boondoggle they triumphantly derailed in Wisconsin, but it hasn't prevented party leaders from putting legislation on bullet trains when it suited their political purposes. The latest train to leave the station is redistricting legislation mandated after the U.S. Census every 10 years expected to be delivered to the governor later this week in record time.

The plan was produced in secret. Republican leaders hired two law firms
[1 here and 2 here] to assist with drawing the maps and consulting on court challenges, firms who have already billed taxpayers $350,000, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
