About half of the items checked out are CDs or DVDs, said Kathy Baker, assistant director. As the numbers of items borrowed increases, so does the revenue generated by late fees. More than $40,000 in fines is collected each year, said Lori Belongia, library director. "It's a significant amount of money," she said. The fines are factored into the library budget annually.
