No surprise that both Republicans who were willing to overturn the 2020 election results on Jan. 6, 2021 — bowing to their lying pal Donald Trump — joined the Matt Gaetz. crowd last week in efforts to shut down the government.
The 5th Congressional District's Scott Fitzgerald and the 7th's Tom Tiffany weren't willing to compromise with the majority of their colleagues to pass House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's 11th-hour continuing resolution to keep the government running.
Even two of the state's archconservative lawmakers — Rep. Glenn Grothman of the 6th District and U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson — joined fellow Republicans Rep. Bryan Steil of the First District, Rep. Derrick Van Orden of the Third and Rep. Mike Gallagher of the Eighth, in caring enough to keep the lights on and our troops paid.
