Mackenzie debuted on the baby names chart in 1976, powered by one of the star of the TV sitcom, One Day at a Time, first broadcast on CBS on December 16, 1975.  Unlike the show, the name was not an immediate hit with parents.  In fact, it wasn't until 1995 when Mackenzie reached the top 100, where she spent a total of 23 years.  She peaked at #41 in 2001.
