More than 1,000,000 voters turned out for this year's spring election. In the past three spring elections (2013, 2015, 2017) in which there has been a statewide candidate on the ballot and no presidential primary, turnout has averaged 792,000 voters. In 2011, when the spring Supreme Court election was held amid the turmoil of the protests surrounding Walker’s public union reforms, turnout spiked to an unheard-of 1.5 million.
