Definition: Merriam-Webster
Every time I encounter the adjective untenable, I have to puzzle out its meaning. Once I look up the definition, which I usually have to do, it apparently evaporates within the hour.
"Not able to be defended."
How hard can these 5 words be to retain? Maybe I could do so if I incorporated 'untenable' into my vocabulary. Actually, here I am approaching my 68th birthday, and I don't think I've ever used it in conversation. 'Indefensible', yes. All the time.
'Untenable' is simply one of those words that always slips through my grip.
