Walker bypasses gas tax hike, wants $1.3 billion in transportation bonds. (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 1/30/2015)
Under the Republican governor's plan, bonding for transportation would rise by about 30%, but the state's overall borrowing would drop. That's because Walker is recommending that the state delay construction of buildings that haven't already gotten initial approval, including for the University of Wisconsin System. The plan, released Friday to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, comes after Walker has spent more than a year calling for finding new long-term solutions for funding transportation.
And he's telling professors to work more!! Ay-yi-yii!!
Republican legislative leaders aren't exactly thrilled with this announcement.
