Wonder how much cost savings was actually realized. Gov. Scott Walker and the Department of Corrections announced Tuesday that Ethan Allen and Southern Oaks Girls School in Union Grove are closing July 1, a move aimed at erasing the state's deficit.
Juvenile offenders are being transferred to the Lincoln Hills correctional facility in Irma in Lincoln County, about four hours from Milwaukee. (70% of offenders were from southeastern Wisconsin.)
The consolidated operations will save more than $23 million a year in institution operating costs over the next biennium, according to the Department of Corrections.
