Departing Mead Public Library Board President Encourages Community Involvement

Link to May 2 Sheboygan Press letter to the editor from Bernard Markevitch, "Thanks, and keep supporting Mead Public Library".

Excerpt:   For 110 years, Mead Public Library has served our community. It has grown with the times. For those who think library services are passĂ©, read the annual report. Library usage is at an all-time high.

But this valuable resource is in peril.

How can you support your library?
  • Use its services, often.
  • Attend Common Council meetings when library issues are on the agenda.
  • Attend library board meetings.
  • Let your aldermen know, repeatedly, that your library is important to you — and insist that they listen.
  • Call the mayor's office, if all else fails. He keeps a log of phone calls. He's here to serve us.
