North Carolina's gerrymandered 8th congressional district includes all of Cabarrus County, Montgomery County, Hoke County, and Stanly County, as well as portions of Rowan County and Cumberland County. Donald Trump received 66.5% of the vote in 2020.

The district Bishop is giving up may look slightly different next year, but is still expected to be heavily GOP-leaning. Republicans in the state are expected to redraw the congressional lines this year after a newly conservative state Supreme Court recently cleared the way for a partisan gerrymander that could ultimately net Republicans as many as four additional seats.
This is what gerrymandering looks like in North Carolina: Packing Charlotte and Winston-Salem.
So far, according to Ballotpedia's tally, 4 Republicans and nom Democrats have announced their candidacies to succeed Bishop.
