COVID-19 hospitalizations in Wisconsin hit record high for 2021



COVID-19 hospitalizations in Wisconsin increased to a new high for 2021 Monday. The Wisconsin Hospital Association reported 1,432 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19, the highest total since Dec. 2020. 
The number of patients hospitalized is up 535 patients from a month ago, according to the WHA. 
The state also reported that nearly 400 patients are receiving intensive care.

Taylor County hsa the lowest percentage of residents who are fully vaccinated (32%).  The state average is 58%.


Dane County has the 2nd highest percentage of fully vaccinated residents (74%).

The good news is that Wisconsin's 7-day average of new Covid cases has decreased by 27% since the beginning of October.

The top 10 counties that have the highest number of Covid cases per 100,000 residents are all solidly positioned in Trump's America.  In 6 of the counties, Trump won at least two-thirds of the vote in 2020.

5 of the above counties are in the top 10 for largest percentage of the vote in 2020.  And three counties on the table below have the lowest percentage of fully vaccinated residents:  Taylor (31%), Clark (33%), Rusk (36%).   The state average is 57%.


Dane County, the state's bluest and most vaccinated, has the lowest number of Covid cases per 100,000 residents,

All of the above counties are solidly in the GOP column.  In fact, they all became extremely Trumpy in 2016 and doubled down on their errant ways in 2020.
